a quick, fun little read with a dark undertone and incredible insight into just what nazism could do and did do to not just friendships, but to everyone. i highly recommend.

gutting in its brevity and for the way it turns on its heel two or three times. uncomfortable parallels to the modern day as well and only raises the question- what is happening outside the stationary?
Kathrine Taylor would get PTSD if she witnessed the current political climate in India today.

En brevveksling mellem to venner i starten af 1930'erne. Den ene bosat i USA. Den anden i Tyskland.
Men læs den selv, det er hurtigt gjort. Men den bliver hængende bagefter.

(Listened to this book on Audible). I really enjoyed this short epistolary novel! It was interesting to see the shifting mindsets through letter correspondence without any other context, dialogue, or narration. I also enjoyed the added intro and epilogue added in to give some historical context. Very powerful book despite the length and made an excellent audiobook to listen to in the car.
Address Unknown will probably be one of the shortest yet most powerful books I read all year. It is amazing how much is conveyed in this series of letters between two men in 1933-1934.
Martin has just moved his family back to Germany and gets involved in Hitler's regime. Max, his business partner and a Jewish man, can't believe the change in his friend in such a short time. In the introduction and author's notes, it was explained that Kathrine Kressman Taylor wrote this book because she encountered people who continually tried to justify Hitler's rise to power and rein. It blows my mind that she had the foresight to write this book prior to all the horrors of WWII.
This short epistolary novel is a cautionary tale for us all. It's short, concise, and moving. Definitely a must read!

I tore through this one. Written contemporaneously with WWII, it was still prescient in seeing where the Nazi party was leading the country. I found this really interesting - how quickly someone could go from being "best friends and brothers" with someone who is Jewish to disavowing them and betraying their family. Very strong recommendation, particularly if you're looking for a darkly humorous comeuppance.
