So relevant to the current political climate of the United States. The way people worshipped Hitler is so similar to how people worship Trump today. Even though it is short, Address Unknown is a very effective piece.
This was a really short and quick novel, but it was so strong. It has such a powerful message and it really gets across in less than 100 pages. The book was originally published in 1938, and it has very much stood the test of time.
The novel is written in the form of letter correspondence between two friends who were originally from Germany. One friend decided to return to Germany, and the other, who is Jewish, decided against returning. It truly captures how any normal person can cave into Nazi ideology, and unfortunately, it's sentiment holds true today.
An article about the book in The Guardian states, "That this short, fleeting story has lasted so long is not only because of its artistic achievement, and not only because, written in 1938, it astonishingly anticipated the horror that was yet to come. It is because its prescience is not confined to its time. It saw into our own future too."
There's a reason this book has been republished time and time again, and it's a book that should be required reading for everyone. And at less than 100 pages, there's really no excuse not to.

Very short book that really packs a punch. Some of the plot is a bit thin at times, but the prose and the messaging are strong. The
final page really ties the whole story together. Read the whole thing while tacet in orchestra rehearsal (Thank you Berlioz.)

An effective, short book. Sadly still relevant. The ending is chilling.
