This one was…ok. Like it wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad. It was enjoyable and the voice actors were good so it made the audiobook enjoyable. But I feel that if I had read this, instead of listening, this would be more lack luster.

The story felt surface level and overall “stereotypical”. It was the class:
- second chance
- miscommunication trope
- “you’re better off without me”/“I’ll only hurt you”
- groveling man

Romance. So if you want something fluffy and light to listen to (or read) this one is a good option.

“I’ll be anything you need me to be.”

If the Sun Never Sets is book 2 in the If Love series and a continuation of Blake and Farrah’s story. They reconnect 5 years later and shenanigans unfold.

I don’t know what it is about Blake, but I still just don’t like him as an MMC. I really can’t put my finger on it since there are other MMCs that have some of the same qualities as him that I don’t dislike in the same way. Maybe it’s the blonde hair? This is totally a me thing and not the book/author. Blake did redeem himself a lot in this book for me. His willingness to pay Farrah 3x her salary just to work with her? Just for the potential of winning her back? Him still having that elephant that Farrah gifted him in Shanghai? Bringing it everywhere with him and unpacking it first? The jealousy? The possessiveness? Absolutely loved all of that.

I absolutely lost it while reading - one of the predictions I made during the first book ends up being true. Blake isn’t as awful of a person as originally thought in the first book. It really made me feel for Blake that he was put in that situation by Cleo and was living with these feelings for the past 5 years. He definitely needs some therapy since I’m sure he’ll have lots more feelings to unpack after the revelation. At the same time, I’m still kinda upset with him for being in that situation to begin with? I get that it was definitely him being a 22 year old, but still.

I absolutely love a good grovel / working to get someone back. Blake really worked to get Farrah back which I appreciated. I really love the person that Farrah grew into - I felt like she really had some expectations and boundaries for Blake to let him back in. Even with her eventually letting him in, it still felt like he had to earn it. I really loved the conversation between Farrah and her mom. It felt like Farrah ultimately knew what she wanted, but she really just needed someone else to validate those feelings for her.

The mmc was the worst.

A big miscommunication trope that lasted 2 books. Definitely not the better series of Anna Huang.

MMC I was not a big fan of but I love the story itself.

Blake you god damn idiot, how could you break Farrah's heart again??? Nuh uh, no more of this series for me, this is a one-trick pony and I'm over it
