Long story short, MMC keeps convincing himself that his intrusive thoughts means he’s a bad person and pushes away the love of his life AGAIN. Like dude, all you had to do was talk to her, smh.

Ahhhh the conclusion!!! OK, even though I absolutely loved the end of the story. I was really mad at Blake. I don’t know I guess I just felt like that third act break up was unnecessary. I don’t feel like what he learned or what he found out warranted him to push Farah away again.

I was not mad at Farah because she was in the dark about everything so her feelings and her emotions to me were valid. Going through all that without knowing anything, I did not expect her or want it rushed for her to jump into Blake’s arms so that part of the story I enjoyed, I understood. Blake was a different story.

I will say, though what he did when she went to visit her mom was absolutely amazing. I was kicking and screaming I loved what he did for Farrah. The way he explained everything was so beautiful. I was so giddy with that.

This also was a 3.5 star for me. Would I recommend it-absolutely.

Enjoyed this one way more then the first one. Felt more grown up mostly because the characters were older, and 10/10 for spicy

I’d say that this book was better than the first one, though I don’t exactly know why. It’s not because it resolved any plot threads, I just… felt like something about it drew me in a little more. However, it’s getting the same rating because the ending brought it back down again for me.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Now, I’m not the kind of person who ever enjoys a third act breakup trope. I loathe them, in fact. Since the entire book was the resolution of a breakup, I thought I might be safe—but I was wrong, and this is just a book that REALLY doesn’t need it. I know Blake has trauma going on, but it still didn’t seem to make sense for his reaction to finding out Cleo lied to be shutting out Farrah. It didn’t make sense for him to jump from “I never hurt Farrah in the first place, this is excellent” to “if we stay together I’ll hurt you again”—and I know part of it was meant to be Cleo’s dad talking to him, but that was such a fleeting moment from someone he knows unreasonably detests him, and the good news from Cleo should have overwhelmed that. The very fact that he broke up with her for that was the worst red flag.

I know they got married in the book, but it just didn’t seem realistic that they’d ever get there—and I honestly kind of see them getting a divorce in their future. They just don’t seem very good together. Neither really hears the other out when it matters. And the annoying thing is, I was really rooting for them until the third act breakup. I just think the inclusion of it ruined the story.

(Also, the fact that nothing happened between him and Cleo was something I saw coming from the moment it happened in Book 1–it was predictable, but probably good that it was. Idk, no strong feelings either way there. Beige flag, writing wise.)

Oh, and the marriage seemed really fast. I know they dated 5 years ago, but getting engaged after 6 months? When they dated for 9 months (5 years ago) and then a few months (early in the year) and then had a big fight which lasted just over 2 months? She really should have taken longer than 6 months to decide whether or not she wanted to spend her life with this man.

On a different note, I loved the ending with Blake and his father. I’m glad it turned out well for them, though I thought the father was a little too ready to admit that he was ashamed after hiding it for so many years. Still, I’m glad it had a good resolution.
