I know nothing about Genghis Kahn, and this is a good way to become more knowledgeable about him. It covers his early life, from about 12 years old until he is the leader of a large group of Mongol tribes.

Reading the author's note, this book tries to be true to the known history of his life, so I am pleased to have read it.

Brilliantly written. Conn tells a imaginative and invigorating tale. Genghis comes alive in the telling. His brilliance and tactical genius flow from the pages. You can't help but to become entranced by the story. It will keep you up till late in the night.

I was surprised at how well-written this was - I picked it up as an Advance Reader's Copy ages ago, and finally read it. I was interested mostly because the author has a series of books about Julius Caesar that has been repeatedly recommended to me, and I was curious. Now I think I'll have to look up his Caesar books at some point . . .

It is hard to see the heart of a boy in the creased face of a brutal man known to rule the world. The journey and hardships of a boy on the plains of Mongolia erase any of the preconceived notions of Genghis Khan one can hold. Conn Iggulden is a master of details and paints the most elaborate scenes of the 12th century, transporting readers onto galloping horses along-side Yesugei's boys. This book is unquestionably one of the most fascinating, violent, and historically accurate works of fiction of today's day, and the best part is that there are four more brilliant books to continue the journey.

Absolutely brilliant! A fast paced novel of the early life of Ghengis Khan. It is beautifully written, with characters that leap to life off the page. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
