Nice insight into Matt's mind. Not a complete rehash. Lots of stuff that we couldn't see because of the single POV in the original series. Liked.

Sawyer Bennett you are amazing!!!
This was a greatly sextastic way to finish this series!! I love Matt and Mac even more than I did in Legal Affairs. As this book is in Matts POV you see his side and get a look into his head and heart. And boy is it sexy! There were times in Legal Affairs that I wanted to know what Matt was thinking and feeling, especially after his issues with Marissa I wanted to know why he treated Mac the way he did.
Seeing the true desire he felt for her and the battles he had to not fall for makes me fall for Matt trust and arrogance issues and all.

If you haven't already buy Legal Affairs in the box set so it's all at your fingertips and then delve into Matt's side, you won't be disappointed!

Matt Connover is a litigation God, and he knows it. He's sexy with a magic tongue and he's also trying to live a bachelor life forever. That is until McKayla Dawson walks into his life as a very hot one night stand then into his conference room at his office as the new attorney he just hired! Struck dumb with shock he now faces uphill battles with trying to forget about his hot steamy one night stand when she is front and center working with him daily.

"You can't figure out why I'm mad? I ask incredulously, and then lower my voice to a growl. " how about because I had my tongue between your legs two days ago, or the fact that we both almost overdosed on orgasms, or maybe it's because I got a f@$&ing hard-on the minute you walked in that conference room door? Take your pick... There are a variety of reasons why I'm mad."

It only gets better so go buy it!! You won't regret it!

I enjoyed this much more than the original series of shorts. I would really recommend reading only this one, or at least reading this one first. This tells the story of all the shorts as one novel and from the POV of Matt rather than McKayla. Matt comes across as a real asshole in the shorts since we don't get much insight into his motivations. But in Confessions of a Litigation God we can see Matt struggling with his feelings.

A lot of the time he lets his fears and insecurities get in the way of being happy with McKayla, but at least you get more of the good with the bad. You see how much he at first enjoys McKayla's company and cant stop thinking about her, how he eventually cares for her and doesn't want to let her go, and finally, how much he loves and needs her. I honestly didn't know that from reading the shorts. I assumed that Matt's asshole behavior was due to the fact that he didn't care about her until much later. Especially during the "off" periods of their off again-on again relationship. During those times, Matt was actually in a lot of pain, struggling with all the damage that his ex-wife had caused. He was missing Mac terribly, and trying to find a way to be with her without being hurt. He just needed time to work through his issues, which he did eventually. I found it extremely enlightening.

“Oh, God."
Not God, babe.
Matt Fucking Connover.”

This book really goes with its "Confessions" title, and is almost all inner dialogue. Inner dialogue I think is a 'love it or hate it' kind of thing, and for the most part I love it. I love really getting into the mind of a character. And this story is primarily the story of Matt working through his issues. You will have to be patient and understanding to enjoy this book. Matt makes a lot of epic mistakes. He deserves to get knocked on the head more often than not. But I love him.

The original Legal Affairs series was just a casual read for me. But I was completely immersed in this novel and I felt for Matt so much. I think this portrayed both Matt and Mac in a much more flattering light. We got to understand Matt and also see why he loves Mac so much. Mac is incredible for being able to influence such a stubborn and powerful man. She healed him. When I read their story from Mac's POV, I often found myself wondering why she was attracted to him, besides the physical. But now I feel like I know them both better, but this is still Matt's story.

“I'm not just craving to get inside of her, I am utterly aching with the need to hold her...to hear her voice, to worship her, to have her entire being envelope me.”

i honestly didn’t love it so much. i didn’t really like any of the characters and the plot was super basic and not very interesting to me. i felt no emotional chemistry between them and it was all lust, not love. i didn’t like matt at all. he treated her so badly so many times and he was a real douchebag. i hated how he only missed her body. not really her. he only missed the sex everytime they would break up. he basically said he doesn’t even want to date her but only agreed to date her to ensure he will be having sex with her. like basically leading her on just because he wants sex, he never plans to get serious with her. i really hated him. i get his trust issues and shit but that doesn’t give him the right to treat mac like shit all the time. i also liked mac in the beginning because i thought she was a strong, independent women but she sadly proved me wrong. she began to be needy and weak and allowed him to step all over her and just gave her body to him time after time again even when matt treated her so bad. it’s like she lost all her strength just because she was blinded by sex with him. she was big smart at all and broke up with him three times just so she can accept him back every single time. i havent even read the book from mac’s point of view but i don’t want to.

While I loved Legal Affairs from Mac's POV, I didn't love this one from Matt's POV. I usually love the male's POV but this one was okay, not great. It had some good insight into his thoughts on some of the scenes and helped explained some of his behavior but I skimmed parts that were exactly duplicate in the other book, which was a lot in this book.

I should stop instantly reading the books that are recommended to me on Tik Tok without reading the description of the book. I'm a sucker for office romance book, but I enjoy actual romance and plot. This is 75% just sex. I will say I kept reading thinking something WILD was going to happen with his ex wife and ex best friend, or the people he fired.
