it wasn't bad. honestly the first 50% of the book was pretty interesting, but as it went on, the pacing seemed off. everything was going too fast and it seemed like their was no actual love between callum and aida. towards the end, the politics started to heavily take over, making it hard for me to focus and root for the romance. i can definitely understand why people hate this book, but to me it was okay and had potential.

This book was good. It wasn’t as fast as i was hoping it’d be but Callum is everything! Loved him so much when he finally fell in love with Aida. I love the tension between the two in the beginning it was truly everything. You dark romance lovers will 100% love this book. For me though Sophie’s writing style just isn’t my personal favorite per the 3.5 rating.

This book is so fun and a great, fast read for when you're in a reading slump. There's a decent side plot, and the main two characters have such funny interactions. I think this book could've had more plot details and schemes, but I still had a lot of fun throughout this read!

I recommend it to people looking for tension, small politics, gang side-plots, mafia, and spice

Definitely read the trigger warnings. But I DEVOURED this book. A lot funnier than I expected it to be, and the slow burn had me giddy by the end. The spicy scenes were great and I loved the ending, which is honestly not something I can say often.

I've dabbled in dark romance a tiny bit and wanted to try some more, and I heard Lark's books were a good place to start. Omg, I ate this up! I'm here for the "touch her and die" trope and no one is more surprised than me. 😂 And I laughed and giggled and swooned at this book, a book about the mafia. I was not expecting that at all. I'm immediately picking up the next book in this series. I loved the banter between Aida and Callum. I loved the family loyalty from both sides. And I loved that there was character art throughout the book. I'm a visual person, so those helped tie the story together. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the politics, and I think it's just because I wasn't expecting it, so I didn't care for it.

Sophie Lark did it again. It is my first mafia romance fron her and it was joyfull.
I love the FMC Aida. This character made me laugh so many time with her sassy mouth. She is a hell well written character.
Just for her, you should read this.

It is:
- mafia romance
- enemies to lovers
- strong and skilled FMC
- arranged marriage
- forced proximity

It was a perfect reading balancing between the love story and the plots.
This is a good audiobook also (duo POV narrators)
