DNF. I just couldn't get into the story. The writing style wasn't for me. Felt like a mashup of The Nest and Crazy Rich Asians but was missing my favorite parts of both novels :(

Rich people problems, that’s all I could think about while reading this book. I didn’t empathize, sympathize or care about any of the character’s plight throughout this storyline. Way too many clichés all round. The parents are no better than the kids.
Themes include: how can you get your hands on money, climb the corporate ladder, grow your real estate position or… get rich from your dad’s estate when he dies?? Really.
I didn’t care for the dad Stanley, nor his first wife Linda or his second wife Mary; all 3 driven by money, no heart and soul at all. The kids are jaded; poor Fred who is all consumed with his status and how he is viewed socially, and his sister Kate, isn’t any better, working her way through personal problems while being successful at work at the expense of others. Maybe this was supposed to be satirical and I didn’t buy it? Just wasn’t for me.

Family Trust by Kathy Wang was just an okay read, which was a bummer because I had such high hopes for the story. I was thinking it would be along the lines of Crazy Rich Asians (I've read all 3 in the series) and let me tell you, they're not similar at all. I did not care for a single character in this story, not a one, they were all so boring and it was impossible for me to connect with any of them. Even with that, I did kind of enjoy parts of the story. I understood, to an extent, the finance aspects of the story and found that to be the most interesting thing. I chose this as my selection for book club and am interested to hear what the other ladies think of this book. I found this book through a The Skimm recommendation, ugh, too bad it was not a good choice.
