Piper and Chloe met at a bar called Dragonfly which was the setting for the first book in this series (all of the books in this series can certainly be read as standalone books). Piper, having suffered panic attacks since witnessing a horrific suicide on the subway was just looking to cross an evening out off of the list she made with her therapist. Since she was a celebrity she was incognito. When Chloe, a flight attendant, sat down next to her and struck up a conversation, Piper pushed her comfort zone and chatted with her. The two spent several hours walking through Brooklyn without Chloe knowing Piper’s real identity.

When they happened to meet several weeks later on a flight to the Caymans, they decided to spend the weekend together. What followed was a really sweet journey through the beginning stages of their relationship where they navigated the treacherous waters of long distance love. There wasn’t a lot of angst or unnecessary drama, but instead just a nice story of two normal women falling in love!

Updated review:
Lori Prince continues to do an amazing job narrating this series. The emotions she’s able to convey through her performance makes my heart so happy. She held steady with Chloe’s southern accent throughout and even maintained the voices of characters from the other books in the series. Amazing job!
I received a copy of the audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Another amazing collaboration between one of my favorite sapphic authors and favorite sapphic book narrators! Rachel Lacey and Lori Prince have done it again with book 3 in the Midnight in Manhattan series! The main connecting point in these books is a bar called the Dragonfly, which is the focus of book 1 (Don’t Cry for Me) where the signature drink the series is named after comes into being. Although this is a series, you could read each book as a stand alone, but why would you want to? The whole series is amazing, so just read it all and thank me later.

I’ve had a rough summer, dealing with health issue after health issue, after a year of more health issues. Nothing big and everything is mostly okay but it’s been a lot and I’ve been struggling with keeping up with my reading and reviewing. I’ve read and listened to many new stories I enjoyed, yet going back to something familiar felt really good too. I knew I could count on Rachel Lacey and Come Away With Me was exactly what I needed, the perfect feel-good audiobook.

I loved both MCs when I first read the book and I think I love them even more now that I’ve heard Lori Prince voice them. They’re both very good characters and I also love them together. I relate very much to Piper’s panic attacks (I didn’t write this in my original review but I have my own subway PTSD, or rather, my PTSD gets triggered—or used to get triggered—by the subway), which makes her special to me and at the same time, she’s a TV star on her way to become a Hollywood star, and our lives couldn’t be more different. So I get to at once escape with and relate to a character deeply.

And Chloe… I could fall for Chloe. She’s sweet and kind and fun, always ready for an adventure or a quiet evening with a puzzle. She’s there for the people she loves without being overprotective. And—this I wrote in my first review—her reaction to Piper telling her she loves her is the realest and the most adorable.

Lori Prince brings all the emotions and smiles, the love, the frustrations, and the happiness to life with her usual talent and gusto.

If you’re feeling blue and need warmth in your ears, or if you just want a pretty story and lovely characters, this is the audiobook for you.

This was a pretty sweet romance. Despite being the third of a series, it can be read alone and I don't feel like you really lose anything by not knowing more about some of the other characters that were a focus in the series.

The characters were interesting and had depth, but I do feel like a few story elements sort of fell to the wayside by the end of the book. Piper's issues, which were a central focus of the story, felt a little unresolved at the end.
