I mean, its a functional psychological text, but it just wasn't what I thought it was. It was sterile and cold and OVERTLY blasé about rape. I may pick it back up again someday, but for now, I simply have too many other (better) books I could be reading.
Moderate: Rape

At times it was repetitive, and towards the end when exploring treatment options he promotes a number of treatments that aren’t evidence-based like EMDR therapy that hasn’t been proven useful with well-researched studies. I still found those sections interesting, but it was lacking an acknowledgement on how limited the research on efficacy of some of these treatments really is

I wouldn't recommend this to people who can't or don't want to read about anything that comes to mind in regards to child abuse. Some of the patients' stories are harrowing and I can easily see how this could be very triggering.
