I really enjoyed the first book so I was so hopeful for this one!

The plot didn't advance much, and when it was progressing, it was hard to follow. The flashbacks were confusing and the alternate POV wasn't used enough to be effective, I often forgot that I was reading from another perspective.

The chemistry between Adrian and Isolde is gone, all they do is argue and sleep together.
Isolde becoming a shifter feels unplanned
The whole thing in general just felt different, the vibe is off.

That being said, I do look forward to the next book, I am hopeful for Isolde and Adrian and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can reignite their spark and at least have somewhat of a happy ending.

For me this was more of a back story book that really got you connected with the characters and their traumas with some sprinkles of happy moments and spicy scenes. While also showcasing how the character navigate through the traumas even in times of strife. I will be waiting in anticipation for book 3.

Definitely a highlight of the year!
This was so good! I couldn‘t stop reading!!
It started where the first book endet and got straight forward.
Though adrian and isolde got finally together and she remembered there were still fights, discussions, fucking, love making, deep talk, betrayal, secrets, sobs, caring. It wasn‘t this fairytale relationship.
This book was so much deeper!
The side characters, world building, the integration of the past, the end ( OMG!).
The empowerment in this book was enormous and i felt it.
I had some goosebumps moments in this books.
The battle cry of isolde before the battle started? goosebumps!
The past before she got burnt and this secret was released? GOOSEBUMPS! 😭

I really really can’t wait for the third book!

This was such a compelling sequel in my opinion. It was very good. There was a bit of over used vocabulary toward the end, such as "devastated" and "murdered" which I believe were intended to evoke strong emotion, but eventually lost all meaning due to over use. Beyond that, I don't really have any complaints.

We always fight and fuck.

That's the plot.  There are some reveals in there, somewhere.  Somewhere...

But that's mostly it.  Isolde and Adrian fight and fuck.  And do it again.  And again.

I was quite angry reading it, but anger that drives me to read the next one.  I'm disappointed in myself, truly, but I'm committed to the end.

I am thoroughly upset with how that ended, Scarlett really knows how to fuck with your emotions. God I love this series.
