I am in disbelief

5/5 ⭐️

I loved the first book for the fact that it kept me on my toes and shocked me in ways most books have not been able to do. I was blown away from how much I loved this whole book.

I am going to be honest, I wanted to punch Kiva the whole book. I feel like she had a very clear choice of what to do and she didn't which really aggravated me. Her Sister kept lying to her but she still forgave her when I would've cut contact IMMEDIATELY. Ugh and the way she tells them everything had me FURIOUS. but that's part of the reason I loved the book so much. It had me angry, giddy, sad, frustrated, happy, etc.

Another thing I loved was Jaren. He deserves the WORLD. he is so sweet. And the fact that he calls her sweetheart has me kicking my feet and giggling. Omg and CAL??? If he needed someone to call sunshine or sweet cheeks, SIGN ME UP. I have such a huge soft spot for him after this book.

The plot twists were so unexpected. I suspected one of them from the beginning, but that was just me being the ooeranalyist. I was so surprised and my mouth was left open for a solid five minutes after I finished this book. I do not know how im going to handle the third book but if it is anything like the last two, I cannot wait!!!!

4.5⭐️ I flew through this book and then once I got to the last 100 pages I didn’t read it for two weeks because I was so scared to read the ending. My heart was absolute ripped out I need to read the next one asap. This book was incredible I absolutely loved where the plot went and getting to see this world and politics develop more since the first book was all in the prison setting. I really liked learning more about the magic in this book. The plot of this book was so entertaining and love how it built from the first book. You also get a lot bigger of a plot and world in this book that we didn’t get to see in the first book. I love this world and characters so much. The new characters are my fav ever like Tor and Caldon have my heart and they deserve the entire world. I also really loved the royal family and how they were so accepting of Kiva and Tip. Also Zuleeka was a b*tch from the very start like a freaking knew she was gonna betray them. Overall absolutely obsessed with this series and I loved this book.

I know they were for the plot so I didn’t take away stars for that specifically but Kiva’s siblings were so incredibly annoying. Every time they appeared I rolled my eyes. What I did take away stars for was the lack of conflict, there seemed to be no sense of urgency. Kiva was making stupid choices which was frustrating.
