I've kind of predicted the plot twist early on so I've just waited for everything to unfold. But then, it's fast-paced enough to get me hooked. The juggle between the timelines is also nicely done. I couldn't say I'm rooting for anyone but the ending is satisfying enough since I found no loopholes and the conclusion made sense to me.

The writing for this book was unnecessarily wordy. The author added irrelevant descriptions and details that- in my opinion- distracted from the story.

I think it’s very difficult to successfully execute a storyline with jumping timelines, and unfortunately, I think this book missed the mark.

The twist at the end was lackluster.
George’s character and his relationship with Lucca was severely underdeveloped. I barely bay an eye at the final reveal

The last 1/3 of the book is the best part, but it’s a slow journey to get there.

I had to force myself to finish this. I still do not understand why the main character chooses to do that job. Seems like she really does not have to be doing it at all, and who would EVER want to live that way? It never said how much she makes, but why would making money even matter to her when she can never spend it. Also, I didn’t care about ANY of the jobs she did. None of them seemed high profile or crazy at all. Very boring. Also I cared ZERO about who Mr. Smith turned out to be. Actually any other character being Mr. Smith would have been more of a shock.

Also how did Mr. Smith never find out about Devon? And who was paying Devon? Like why would he ever want to live like that. How was he just always there no problem?

Quick read. So quick. I was worried when I started it that I wouldn’t like it, but it was intriguing. The story went up, down and sideways, and right when I thought I figured it out, something shifted to change my thought process. Morally, I don’t know how I feel about a life that is all about lying, but the concept was interesting. I highly recommend this mystery to someone looking for a quick, entertaining read.
