Well, Ella...
You did it again! How am I supposed to talk about this book without giving spoilers? Dax's book is going to forever hold a special place in my heart! Between him and Emma, the emotions between the two! Ugh! I wish I could have something that hot and heavy! Okay... Maybe not. Dax is psycho and I don't know how much of that I could actually handle irl. Lol.

I loved it and I can't wait for more!

Oh Dax and Emma. I knew I was going to love this one just from my exposure to Dax in Take Me.

I love how different a feel Break Me was from Take Me (book 1). While Take Me was more clinical in the way the FMCs training occurred, we get more of a relationship vibe with this one. From beginning to end, both Dax and Emma develop their own version of devotion to each other. Both are resistant to it, to the point that they almost lose each other at the end.

Dax was firm, sometimes brutal in his training of Ella, but it had notes of underlying care. Even when he tries to push her away and teach her a lesson, he canโ€™t quite bring himself to go all the way. She slowly becomes his and his alone. He cannot part with her.

Emma shows defiance here and there but she is no match for the combination of Daxโ€™s training and utter focus as he brings out her true self. By the end she cannot fathom a life without him and Dax and Emma get their version of HEA.

Ella is an amazing writer and immerses her readers into the minds of her characters as she weaves the story. She is a superb writer of pitch black and captive romance.

This is a captive romance and will not be for everyone, and as always with these, the HEAโ€™s are not traditional and may even not be categorized as such. Heed authorโ€™s content warnings before proceeding.

This book went above and beyond my expectationsโ€ฆI loved it! This book literally kept me prisoner until the end I absolutely love the relationship built between Dax and Emma. It was perfection! We also get a hint of whatโ€™s in store for the next book which is Dorinโ€™s bookโ€ฆthat one is gonna be crazy because he seems to be the most unhinged of all the trainers!

In this book we follow Emma who is on a vacation with her boyfriend who ridicules her for her dark desires when she confessed them to him on a night out. A man approaches her having overheard her confession and is convinced sheโ€™s a natural submissive. He of course then kidnaps her and locks her up in a cell to be a gift for a man named Dax. From there her training beginsโ€ฆ

This book for me was even better than the first one because I feel like we got to see Dax and Emmaโ€™s relationship grow and flourish while her training was happening. I absolutely loved reading from both perspectives and seeing how they both struggled to realize their true feelings for the other. Yes some of the training and scenes were quite extreme and the psychological conditioning was more in the forefront in this book, so make sure to check the triggers before going into this one!

Overall, Iโ€™d absolutely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys some pitch black romance. It was incredibly well written and just such an amazing story๐Ÿ–ค

This is the seventh (?), yeah I think this is the seventh book by Jacobs that Iโ€™ve had the pleasure to read and review, and like with the rest, I get to experience a pitch black romance that truly strip your mind down to itโ€™s core and then builds it back up. Jacobs is extremely skilled with her writing and use of words, that can make you feel for a person thatโ€™s essentially a horribly bad person. Dark romance getโ€™s such a bad rep, especially now coming of the drama from one of youtubes biggest creators literally talking smack about the โ€booktok peopleโ€ who enjoy reading these types of books. Thereโ€™s NOTHING wrong with enjoying a dark romance. Lots of SA and DV survivors use this type of literature to overcome their fears, to control the narrative and experience it in a safe place. Itโ€™s so important to talk about this, and something that unfortunately needs to be said over, and over, and over again. And thereโ€™s so much, especially in Jacobs books, emotional depth in the story. We truly get under the skin of both the victim and the aggressor. What makes them tick, why do they want the things they want, and how does that make them feel. Itโ€™s very raw and exposed. Itโ€™s a reading experience I cherish, and that donโ€™t make me any less feminist or pro womenโ€™s rights. Itโ€™s simply an intricate, and raw experience, that I get to have from the safety of my home, and mind. Thank you Ella ๐Ÿ–ค
