Fun to visit these old characters, but this story is starting to feel like it's dragged out a bit.

These books are easy to pay a little bit of attention to but not have to care much about details - good car listens as this one was. I rolled my eyes a lot at this book because there is no way you get out of their situational homes by digging harder. You just have to try to let that go if you want to keep reading. I do think the characters are funny, even if occasionally unbelievable. I'll probably listen to another one while doing other things...
Completely unbelievable and yet still so fun. I can understand other reviewers who felt like this book was more of a side journey. Hopefully it was all set up for a satisfying conclusion.

I read this for The Literally Book Club '23.
The best to describe the Finlay Donovan series is Psych meets Dead to Me.
Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the last two installments. First of all, there wasn't enough Vero. Nothing exciting happened in this AT all. I was so bored. Since the plot in this one was basically non-existent, I started to suspect that there would be a 4th book and my suspicions were correct. I can understand why people enjoyed this one better and I think it's because the plot threads come back down to earth compared to the second book. You do kind of have to suspend your disbelief for these novels. Ultimately, I did enjoy these books purely for comedic entertainment value.
My predictions and hopes for Book 4:
• MORE VERO.
• A reveal that Mrs. Haggerty is undercover.
• More dead bodies.
