great scare
This book is great! In the beginning I was unable to read it in the dark at night alone but as the characters gained courage so did I. Wonderful read

The start was so creepy, I had such hopes for the horror theme. The creepy stuff that happens in the beginning is basically just repeated throughout the book in a slightly different way. The ending fell flat. I think this would have made a great novella as the horror wouldn't have become redundant

This story definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. There were moments where I even had to put the book down because of a major sense of dread and fear I would feel when reading. There was suspense, dark themes, and many moments while reading that when I heard a sound in my own apartment, I felt myself jump and my heart skip a beat.
The writing style was captivating and overall a quick/fast-paced and easy read. The horror elements were most definitely a 5/5.
Really strong beginning, but then afterwords, my opinion on the book changed.
However, about 2/3 of the way through the book, I felt that the terrors I was feeling were starting to diminish felt repetitive which is why I didn't give it a full four stars. I also felt a bit off about the overused storyline of the haunting being because of some indigenous folktale.
There were some other horror elements in the book that weren't original and somewhat of a cliche.
PS: the prologue itself could've been a really good story.
