1.5 hours read and bored. Not into it and not suspenseful.
I have read many stories on (Reddit nosleep) and loved them very much, like penpal. So I was excited to read this one. The whole story had me, I couldn't wait to get to the next page. However, the ending had me looking around like I lost pages from the book. Very disappointed with the ending. Great read, I would recommend it, but I don't think the ending is gonna wow you.

4/5 ⭐️
It really Exceeded my low expectations. This was a fun one.
I did feel like it was a little repetitive at times, and the ending was a little anticlimactic. But it was fun and I think it’s going to stand out in my memory as a one of the good ones.
Content warning: some strong language.

The first 35% were 100% a 5* read, but it's been knocked down to 4* (almost 3*) for the 'plot twist’. Very creepy throughout the novel, I enjoyed the storytelling and the author being the character, but the ending was just so disappointing. I thought the cellar was going to be the crazy plot twist, and it turned out Faye's father was doing all kinds of fucked up shit there and that was the excuse for the hauntings, but nope just mentioned a few times then nothing actually happened from it. Also the number 5 being about Faye's stillborn brother? Like how anticlimactic. Also how has a demon been haunting Faye for decades just because he was interested in her dead brother, she tells him about it and he's just like 'okay then that's fine see you later' - wtf. Also the descriptions of the creep factors - voices, footprints, exorcist level shenanigans from Faye were scary at first, but then they just kept dragging on so it became like 'oh okay it's this again'. Gutted about the deaths of Nathan and Tíwé though - definitely the best characters in the novel. Overall, I did enjoy the read but was disappointed come the end.
