For any female who also wonders, "Am I the only one that does this?" Jessi Klein will become your soul sister just like she became mine. Realistic and honest. She makes you feel like you aren't a total wreck of a female just because you own 2 bras and wear the same 6 pairs of underwear from Gap.

I listened to about half of the audiobook. I didn’t really connect with a lot of the stories and felt like they went on for too long.

funny, relatable essays.

I love Jessi’s voice-her literary voice and her actual voice. I think listening to the audiobook made it 20% funnier than if I read it. I’ve been a fan of hers for a while and this did not disappoint. Even though her class/experiences/life is far different from mine, her underlying doubts and her thoughts on the female experience were very relatable and always had me chuckling to myself. Any book that can make me laugh out loud is a winner.

Her essay about women and baths (I, like Jessi, am not a fan of the bath tub) made me laugh so hard. She starts out as a strong and funny feminist, and then loses her way a bit (a whole chapter about the Bachelor, which perhaps you love or love to hate-watch, but I personally cannot stomach---we've come so far, but then there is still a whole generation of girls growing up thinking it is normally to line women up like types of cheese for a man to pick, yuck). Like Elizabeth Gilbert's presidential sex fantasy in EPL, there are some things I wish Jessi hadn't told me, but who knows, those chapters might be others' favorite. I wish there had been a lot more about her career and her work---, but there was only one chapter that really touched on it. My fault, not hers, that I wanted more Bossypants and less La Mer.

More like a 3.5, it took me awhile to warm up to her. But, about a third of the way in, I found myself kind of charmed.
fast-paced

I really, really liked this book. I felt like I was sitting down to an authentic conversation with a friend, which surprises me as I previously knew very little about Jessi Klein. My understanding is that she is one of the head writers for "Inside Amy Schumer." I love Amy Schumer as well, and I'm beginning to realize that probably part of the reason I love Amy is because of Jessi! Highly recommend for both laughs and thoughtful discussion on pertinent women's issues.

This is a memoir written by a comedian who writes for Inside Amy Schumer. It's exactly what you would expect. It's a funny, quick read.
