Okay so, really quick review:

1. I didn't like Lola. She lied a lot, she was inconsiderate, she made rash decisions and I felt that she wasn't nearly good enough for Cricket. But Cricket is just so perfect and amazing that he deserved to be with the girl he loved. And if the previous comment didn't make it clear, I love Cricket. I've never read a character like him before. He's precious.
Though, Lola was somehwhat okay by the end.

2. I hate Lola's boyfriend. He's was a bad influence, something that should have been clear, and Lola was bad eenough on her own. She didn't need him helping her.

3. Why did the lying thing not get discussed? Lola was a serial liar and I hate that it wasn't dicussed. Her lying was the only thing that Max was actually right about. Ugh...

So yeah, take whatever you want form this review that makes no sense. I'm not going to rate it yet. I need some time to think about it (I'm stuck between giving it a 3.5 or 4.5. 4 and 5 are not options. It's weird, I know).

Update!
This book gets 3.5 stars because I just remembered something else that I didn't like and that made the decision easy for me. And the something that I didn't like was:
SpoilerThe really bad thing that Cricket did to Lola was not invite her to a birthday party. A birthday party?! Seriously?! She held a grudge against him for two years for that? You kidding, right?
Just... wow.

I finally finished this! It took me a while because school keeps coming on the way.

What I thought? I liked Anna and the French Kiss better but this is really good as well. Lola's costumes are really interesting, I can't help picturing it if it will ever be made into a series or a movie. Cricket Bell, I think, is a bit too perfect for my taste. He wears really good clothes and the fact that he knows how to sew and do elegant buns with girls' hair is very very VERY unusual for boys. I don't think I'll find someone like him in real life.

Though I find some of it to be a bit cliche, I really liked the flow of the story. I can't wait to read Isla and the Happily Ever After.

What's not to love ? This one was set in one of my favorite cities San Francisco, with beautiful descriptions. The way it was written I could see myself there walking down the historical streets with Lola and Cricket. Lola was a complex, independent, loved girl with some normal issues in a bit of an unconventional way. LOL I know sounds complicated but it's really not. Her fathers are so wonderful I wanted them to adopt me, if just for the pie time. One of the fathers makes pies for a living, yum. So she has two fathers, two love interests, one working, one not, she is unique and lets that flag fly, ad smart and balanced and you have one fantastic character. Max, her now love is, loud, musical, artistic and well you'll find out. Cricket the not now but was the love, is shy, intelligent and slightly aloof. The side characters all ad something to the story, each plays their part well. I really enjoyed it, couldn't wait to hear more, and was sad when it ended. I wanted more.

I liked this book but I didn't love it like Anna and the french kiss.

I don't know how Stephanie Perkins does it but when I read Anna, I wanted to go fall in love in Paris. Now in Lola, I felt like I was in San Francisco but I have never been there. One thing that was a surprise to me was when Anna and Etienne showed up in this book! How freakin' clever!!!

Lola is a great female main character. She is spunky and doesn't care what others think of her or how she dresses (even though she does go through a period in the book wearing only black). I liked how she doesn't come from a "traditional" family. I really can't remember the last YA book that I read that the main character had same sex parents. She knows what she wants (even those she is blinded by Max) and goes for it!

And now finally Cricket, awwww, wish he was someone I could meet in real life. He is way better than Etienne and probably the best love interest I have read in a book in a long time. So smart and spunky, like I said I need to have a Cricket in my life!

This cover is 100% better than Anna. I didn't like how you couldn't see the guy on the Anna and this one is so creative. When I see the houses on the cover, they remind me of the show Full House (maybe the houses on that street were the inspiration).

"I wish it didn't hurt to think about him. And I'm not upset because I want to be with him, I don't, but he was so much to be for so long. He was my future. And now he's nothing. I gave him everything, and now he's nothing." I related a TON to this quote, probably one of the best lines that Lola said. I have to say I have dated a lot of Max's in my life but I haven't found my Cricket yet.

I can't wait to read Stephanie's next book!

OH MY GOD, I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL, SO AMAZING!!!

I don't know how she does it, but Stephanie Perkins writes the most accurate books. I mean, this stuff actually happens in real life, her stories feel so real!

This book was super cute, just like Anna and the French Kiss. Lola was very frustrating sometimes, and the time that took her to break up with Max was oh-so-painful, but it was all so accurate. People really are that stupid sometimes and they stand in the way of their own happiness.

Cricket was so adorable, oh my God! He was very sweet, intelligent and such a good person. And he really loved Lola. God, he was awesome.

Lindsey was also amazing, I think she's a great best friend.

I find very interesting the fact that Lola has two dads because I really think people should be more open minded about adoption by homossexual couples.

Calliope was of a cold-hearted bitch and maybe she just wanted to protect her brother or whatever, but I still don't like her. She made a lot of crap and Lola had a very hard time thanks to her, so yeah.

Basically, this book is perfect. It really describes the feeling of falling and being in love. I loved it very, very much!!

I love this book SO HARD, just as much as I loved Anna and the French Kiss. Stephanie Perkins writes gorgeous, perfect romances. Perfect, I say! I cannot WAIT for her next book. Full, gushy, praise-fest rave review to come.
