I was especially looking forward to this one as we finally get to know what's going on inside the grunty but otherwise stoic Ryan. Kenna was absolutely his perfect match, a wonderful new character, and the introduction of the rescue center opened up a new batch of characters as the series continues.

Jill Redfield is fantastic. This is a HUGE cast of characters, male and female, young and old ~ and even though the packs are expanding and merging, she *still* manages to give them all unique voices and characteristics. You know exactly who is talking at any given time. Loved it.

Note: This series is intertwined with Wright's Mercury Pack series. For chronological order of events, you'll want to have read/listened to 1-4 of Phoenix pack *AND* Spiral of Need (Mercury #1). Then Savage Urges. After this is Force of Temptation (Mercury #2).
