This is a creative romp through A Dictionary with fun characters and a nice pace. The illustrations really bring the story to life. And the definitions throughout are a kick! Take the time to read a few. The story comes to life quite naturally as the pages of A Dictionary are turned and then it begins to spin out of control . . . Luckily, Dictionary's knowledge of all words enables her to bring everything back to order. Dictionary is a character everyone should meet.

I always love Oliver Jeffers, and this one doesn't disappoint! Cute story, simple and expressive illustrations, and after reading the story I have to go back and read the dictionary snippets, because they are charming additions to the story of you pay attention!

Silly yet smart, with adorable illustrations. There are a lot of hidden gems in the dictionary definitions. I would definitely give this one more than one read! I could also see this being used to inspire creative art/writing with my students. Fun for kids and adults!
A brilliant concept, I never thought I'd sympathise with the dictionary itself! I loved that every page highlighted other words from the dictionary alongside the storyline and it was very clever to include the alphabet song which will be so familiar to the target market. Clever use of illustrations on top of photographic books, to merge whimsy and reality. Love love love.

I loved the art and the concept, but I think the story was a bit too long. It was difficult for a 2 year old to stay interested and to follow the plot. The illustrations were lovely.
