Meh… if I didn’t like the theatre and movie I probably wouldn’t have finished this book.

Bless the audiobook for allowing me to power through this story.

Starting this before seeing the musical and finishing it afterwards was fantastic! I loved to see the subtle differences. I prefered the first part of the musical, because some of the Raoul’s actions and remarks took me out a bit, but the the last third of the book was so much more majestic than the ending of the musical. Overall I thought this was great if taken into the account the time it was written in. The themes explored are still relevant today, it got me wondering about modern day incels online lmao.

The Phantom of the Opera continues to be one of my most rereads, and one of my favorite books, movies, and plays. The book is mostly in third person, following Raoul most of the time. Which I found to be easy to follow, as well as enjoyable even though Raoul wasn't my favorite character. The setting of the story is eerie, mysterious, and the writing kept me engaged with the plot.
