I would recommend this book instead of The Body Keeps The Score as it has a more accessible writing style, more engaging content, and as far as I know, a less problematic author. I really enjoyed this book and loved learning about how so many aspects of ourselves and our histories and where we come from and the environment around us are all pivotal in making us who we are. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about intergenerational trauma and a different lens to think about addiction.

Super powerful book on the link between trauma, illness, patterns of emotional suppression, and healing. It was challenging to read at times, but so necessary for anyone - especially those in a health centered profession.
I really like the 4 tentpoles of authenticity, agency, anger and acceptance
