Another beast checked off the list. I pre-ordered this one and have been reading it for 3 years (never give up!). Really interesting inside stories on decisions and strategy WAY above my head. Bolton appears knowledgeable and deservedly crotchety.

The only conclusion I was able to draw from this book:

Find someone who loves you half as much as John Bolton loves himself.

Terrible. If you’re looking for dirt on trump (although there is a tad), don’t read it. This is more about Bolton just going on and on…and on.

Listen, I have an M.A. in political science and I barely got through it.

Not much especially revealing or surprising here. Bolton is almost as impressed with himself as Trump. He’s an ass. The book is a slog.

Basically, Trump is an idiot suck up one moment and an idiot ass licker the next, who attracts narcissists, and the administration cannot bear the weight of all the egos, hence the high turn over rate. Yawn.

Way too long for him to say he nothing, his epilogue on why he didn’t testify in the impeachment trial is simply narcissistic. Hope he enjoys his spot on whatever news org that picks him up as he will ultimately be another enabler thrown into the dustbin of history

Pretty sad that this book wound up on my reading list. With that said, this book managed to confirm some of my worst fears. The book provides a rather detailed look inside the workings of the Trump presidency, including the good, the bad, and the ugly response to issues within the administration.

This may be a chronology of things that happened. Bolton is an opportunistic ass that capitalized his position. I regret spending money on this book.

Lots of interesting and important information, much of it a repeat (with more detail) of stuff we already knew. It's a very difficult read though with long sentences and long paragraphs. Certainly, some of the fudging language required by the clearance process may have contributed, but even so, Bolton's writing is dense and is thus a slog. Way too much detail of when and where conversations took place - in a tweet I described it as his describing a meeting where the subject was what shade of tan paint to use in a room, but including how each of the people in the meeting got there.
