As a first time reader of Skye Jordan, I was absolutely surprised. This book is a very sweet small town romance revolving around Laiyla and Levi. I loved everything about these two, Laiyla is sweet, smart, independent and super sassy. Levi is kind, hard-working, sweet and sexy. These two have undeniable chemistry and once again together, they know they are in for trouble. It’s sexy, sweet and a little bit of spice. I loved all of the side characters and how Jordan lays a really good foundation for the next books in the series. This book was a breath of fresh air since I have been reading a ton of dark romance, which inturn have been sucking out my soul, so this kind of book brings me back to life. Full of emotions and heartwarming moments this is a great refreshing read perfect for any romance lover. I am definitely going to be picking up more books from Skye Jordan!

“Kissing her now after all this time only confirms what I already knew—she ruined me for other women. I gave my heart away as a teenager and I never got it back.”
- Skye Jordan, In Too Deep.

I really enjoyed this book! We follow the different perspectives of Laiyla and Levi in this adorable and steamy second chance romance

A cyclone in the South Pacific brings together three women from very different backgrounds. The harrowing experience and their commonalities create a strong friendship among them.

The women gather seven years later at Laiyla’s grandfather’s lakefront property. Even though she inherited the property several years earlier, Lailya hadn’t been back since she was 18. She is devastated to see the property in a state of disrepair; it had been the only place where she felt joy and freedom growing up. Within minutes of being back in Wildfire Lake, Laiyla runs into Levi -- her first everything and the one she left behind at 18.

Laiyla and Levi’s story is an emotional one. At 18 and now again at 30, Lailya is struggling with the weight of her parent’s expectations. It is their expectations that caused her to leave Levi that final summer and made her dismiss her feelings as just “puppy love.” Laiyla has to figure out if there’s more to her first love feelings with Levi and whether she should jump at this opportunity to pursue her dreams.

I loved the friendship between Laiyla, KT, and Chloe. This group of women is fully supportive of each other. Just like great friends do, they rally behind Lailya and give her a push in the right direction when she needs it. I get the impression that there’s nothing that these three women can’t do when they work together!

After reading several crazy angst-filled books recently, In Too Deep was the right amount of sweet and sexy while being light on the unnecessary drama. While both Laiyla and Levi have things that they need to work through from their past relationship, they ended up being a really cute couple. The sparks and tension between Laiyla and Levi are well developed and believable; they are a perfect blend of heart and heat.

I can’t forget to mention Wildfire Lake and its residents. The townspeople are an entertaining cast of characters. Wildfire Lake is the perfect backdrop for this story. It’s a place many of us wouldn’t mind living!

If you are a fan of second chances, small-town romances, and well-written characters, In Too Deep is the perfect book for you. It is an excellent start to this new series. I can already tell that I’m going to love it. I wonder who is next -- KT or Chloe?!?!?

This is a winner right here. I picked it up and read it in one sitting. I didn't want to put it down for anything. Laiyla is back in her hometown after years of being away. Levi holds a grudge for how she left all those years ago and he doesn't want to get his heart broken again. But man when they finally make amends, it is pure steam

Well I started with book 2, so this was a “back to the beginning” kind of feel for me and I absolutely loved it!
Seeing how the girls got to Wildfire Lake and the struggles from the beginning brought me so much deeper into this series.

Laiyla & Levi are so amazing and so intense and I loved all the

What a great start to a new series!! This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and was hard to put down! I loved that there was no long drawn out unnecessary drama either. Skye also did a great job setting up a new series while not letting it distract from Levi and Laiyla’s story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series! I would absolutely recommend this book!

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books, on 7/12/2020.

In Too Deep is the start to a new series (Wildfire Lake) and a second chance romance--and I have to say, both of those facts have me pretty excited :) Second chance romance, when done well, can be a lot of fun--and when that second chance romance is populated by secondary characters who you also want to see get an HEA? That's pretty much a win-win in my book!

Laiyla and Levi didn't work out the first time around for the classic--mainly because it's the most believable--reason; they were too young the first time around and their lives weren't quite their own yet. Of course, by the time the story proper begins (there is a prologue almost seven years in the past) Laiyla's nearing thirty, and as such should be beyond the reach of her parents. She isn't, though--she's still working for their hotel business--and Levi is 100% right to question if they should even bother this time around either. No one's getting any younger, and he's the only one of his siblings to not be married and starting a family (can I just say--I *love* that this time it's the guy who really wants kids?) and yeah, if she's not going to be on the same page then no, they shouldn't even get started again.

So, Layla's got some thinking to do. And some growing up to do, and some standing up for herself--and for Levi to do. If only he didn't keep distracting her with sexy times...gosh darn him ;)

In Too Deep is a steamy, sexy start to a new series, and I can't wait to return to Wildfire Lake to watch Chole and KT (OMG, now I *really* need to know what KT stands for!) find their HEAs--fingers crossed that it'll be with a cop and an ER doctor, respectively... :)

In unrelated news, man, do I want to go on vacation. Curse this cursed pandemic, getting in the way of my own lakefront vacay...

"With you, I've never been able to think short-term. With you, it's always been forever."

In Too Deep is a small town, second chance romance. We are following Laiyla who has been under her parents' thumb all her life. She always follows their rules and does whatever they wish of her and that included leaving Levi behind 12 years ago to go to Paris. Levi was her first love and vice versa. Hearts were broken on both sides and now Laiyla is back in town to spend some quality time with her best friends at her deceased grandfather's cabin at the lake. But what she finds when she gets there will tear open festering wounds, make her come to terms with who she has become and who she wants to be, and a certain handsome contractor with a few bones to pick with her.

The first 15% of this story took me a while to get into, but as soon as Levi hit the scene this book hit warp speed for me. I couldn't get enough of their back and forth banter and their undeniable chemistry. Can we just talk about that smoking hot boat scene?! Whew!
I also very much loved the female friendships in this book. KT and Chloe knew when to hold Laiyla's hand and when to tell her to stop being an idiot like any good friend does. I cannot wait to read KT and Chloe's books. The small scenes we got between Chloe and the gorgeous cop Xavier had me drooling.

This was my first Skye Jordan book and it sure as hell won't be my last!
