I really enjoyed this sci-fi adventure romance. The world building was nice, the set up required a fair bit. The mc is capable and smart and the main love interest is strong and competent. I enjoyed reading the story and being introduced to the intrigue in the verse

This isn't a prestige epic high-fantasy but it's fast-paced, easy to get in to, and has a surprising amount of plot for a romance. Overall it's a good time

I really enjoyed the sci action/adventure of this. the sex scenes, while hot, are a little bit "wham bam thank you ma'am," but i ain't mad at it. I will certainly continue on with the series!

The beginning was tricky for me because I thought you could see that this was the author’s first book. Sentences are being kept short and they being with „I“ a lot. But the farther I got into the book the more it didn’t bother me anymore.
The book overall is very fast paced and I loved that like everything happened after another, like pow pow pow. The main female character is a strong heroine, perhaps one of the strongest I ever encountered - not in terms of superhuman abilities but just character wise. Ada can change into a whole new personality which she apparently learned to do from her mother and mostly all of the royal members need to survive in this world of corruption, money and power hungry individuals. She can basically scare someone with one „icy“ look of her and uses expressions and words to defeat enemies, but can also be ruthless as there are scenes in which she makes death threats and if people don’t follow it, she executes. But then it was also beautifully described how taking a life costs her. She only has a few friends, but those are her found family given she is on the run and cannot see her actual family, her sisters and brothers only being the real family anyways. Her friends and siblings can look behind her facade and it’s beautifully described that she can be a space princess bitch, treating everyone like they are beneath her, but that it is just a defense mechanism. Loch can immediately look behind her wall and I love how he tells her to not give him that public persona because he wants the real Ada.
I enjoyed that the big break between the two love birds happened in the middle in the book and they didn’t separate for long and got their shii together. The focus was more on the plot in these sequences also with both characters, Ada and Loch, being captured several times with the other coming to the rescue.
And lastly, I liked that Ada was also being real smart. That might be my opinion because I’m not familiar with space technology or the world as I am with fantasy for example, but I liked how it was set up that there was a problem or issue, the reader being kept in the dark, and then Ada coming up with the grand masterplan and everything is being explained step by step. I loved that because I almost always had an „aha“ effect like „oh yeah, that makes sense“ or „wow, I wouldn’t have come up with this“.
The only thing I might have to complain about is the lack of dirty talk during sexy time for me. Don’t get me wrong, Loch often enough makes comments like“keep staring at me like that and I‘m gonna take you upstairs“ or something. But during sexy times? Felt rushed to me and there was minimal talking, which kind of felt to me that this finished in less than a minute 😂 but hey, that’s really looking for flaws right now.
Can’t wait to continue the series.
