I loved the artwork, the Igbo proverbs and their explanations which truly make this book unique.
However, this is one of the books I would’ve cherished when I was a teen, but which doesn’t convince me now. The advices are all kind of flat and won’t surprise you if you’re a fairly confident person. I feel like this makes a good coffee table book or a nice present for your teen niece who goes through her first heartbreak, but it’s not necessarily a self-help guide I particularly enjoyed, although it encouraged me to search for other books which elaborate on Igbo culture.

If you're healing through something or in a period of self-growth, this will really resonate with you! Not revolutionary new advice, but I picked this up at the perfect time for me.  Stunning design and artwork inside the actual book. Also loved listening to the audiobook for the authentic pronunciation of the Igbo proverbs.

pretty surface level but nicely designed, wouldn't really call it a guide. i'm sure i'd have gotten a lot out of it as a teenager.

This was a very quick read. I picked it up because I heard so many good things about it. All he recommendations were correct. I really enjoyed this book. It talks about putting yourself first and not holding to negative things. Negatives things can be people who only use you or are around you to make themselves look better or to laugh at you behind your back, people who are really jealous of you but pretend to like you, or the person who only acknowledges your present when they want something (money, time, attention) but can’t be bother with you. This book made me open my eyes to some situations in my own life that have to be changed or re evaluated. The book also talks about the comfort and peace in solitude and only letting people you want around into your happiness.

This book isnt a step by step guide of how you should live your life life but it does highlight what you can control in your life and how out of control we feel in the people we loves lives. It highlights topics on how we can better ourselves with our own thinking and how to handle what is coming and what we want to come in our future. I love this read and highlight a lot of tips the author left.
