Excellent book. I take for granted that I can practice medicine as a female; it’s amazing what some did before us to pave the way for that privilege.

Another enjoyable book about Dr. Horace Croft and his female protégée, Nora Beady (who is earning her medical degree in this novel). I find the novel fascinating, and especially enjoy learning how surgery used to be and inspired by the progress made. As a survivor of 2 cesarean births and an invasive bowel surgery, I am very thankful for modern medicine, or I would not be alive to this day with 2 healthy children.

Better than the first, I feel like these two books should just… have been one book.
