This was a cute book. Not as good as I had hoped but maybe I just need to read the next one. Reminded me a of Fablehaven but I didn't read this one aloud so I think I would have liked it better if I would have. Maybe I will try that on the next one!
3,5 stars maybe. The story was good, the myths were interesting, but other things were bugging me a lot.

A little boring in places, but overall entertaining.
I genuinely enjoyed this book. It wasn't until I picked up this book that I realized it was based off of historical accounts of real people. This book also twisted mythology and legend into it, creating a very interesting story. I happen to love books like this; turning myths and legends into a work of fiction in which they are real, investigating the possibilities of how they came about, what would it be like if they were indeed real, things like that. Not only that, but the author also gave good explanation for the use of magic, that power is limited, what it really is. I enjoy knowing the author's basis behind things that don't exist in real life.
I really liked this. It wasn't amazing but it kept me hooked.

I really like them. I really hope Josh doesnt betray them. I dont understand how josh is upset about loosing his friends numbers? If they have smart phones how do they not have facebook or a social media site?Perenelle and Scathach are my favorite characters so far. "Like when they go to see Scathach's grandmother and she goes on and on about how moody the woman is and then we meet her and she's not at all" that part bothered me too. She seemed really cool and I genuily liked her.

I will never get sick of this series, I pretty much can always be found reading one of the books every day and the audiobook is INCREDIBLE!
I thought the explanations of magic in this book were interesting and fairly unique but I felt that the characters were too shallow and never connected with them. I will not read any of the other books.
Very enjoyable read. Love the tie ins to mythology and legends of the past. Was a little bummed with the whole twins angle, as that has been done in Children of the Lamp, Star Wars, etc., but twins are written about a lot in ancient history as well, so I get why the author did it. Good story and fun read. Sometimes I could not put the book down!
