Billy Crystal
Perhaps the best autobiography I've ever read! It made me laugh and it made me cry. Incredibly witty and poignant. Billy is a real class act and a unique talent, and it shows.
I really enjoyed this book. I wouldn't have considered myself a Billy Crystal fan but I wasn't *not* a fan-he just really was not on my radar since he moved from movies to theater.
His humor is mostly clean with a sprinkling of well-placed f-bombs & I laughed out loud many times throughout this audio. I only ever want to hear the authors do their own memoirs because I think that makes all the difference.
Stand-outs:
-called kids "pooping tax deductions"
-his relationships with Mickey Mantle & Mohammad Ali
-what he used the velvet Elvis painting in Moscow for
-his uncle did not want to be laid out for a viewing, looking like the last pastry - lol
-he says "Still foolin' 'em" before very show
-his wife holds his hand in her sleep - omg so sweet
I can say that I *am* a fan now.

This was a fun memoir to listen to! Billy Crystal narrated his story through the different decades in his life. He talked about getting into comedy and getting into Hollywood. He was honest with his feelings; they were both touching and hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud many times when he talked about getting old, I was fascinated to hear his experience in making his movies, and I teared up when he talked about the close people in his life. What made this audiobook production interesting was how some chapters were recorded in front of a live audience while others were in a studio. I really enjoyed the ones he did in front of the audience because the audience's laughter added to the humorous tone of what Billy was reading. Billy Crystal is a either a hit or a miss for some people, but he was a hit for me.

A fantastic life. LOL moments in the book. A bit more editing could have been used - 45-60m shorter. Best story was Yankees birthday.
If you like Billy Crystal, you will like this book. If you don't care about Billy Crystal, you still won't after reading this book. I happen to adore him and really enjoyed hearing his take on life and all of the slightly unbelievable experiences he's had. I've seen other reviews that say he comes off as arrogant and I can't see that as all. I find him endearing and while he has those unbelievable, once-in-a-lifetime kind of stories to share, he seems like a guy who is humbled and truly grateful for what he's got. Getting the audio version of this book is a bonus because it's fun to hear his impressions along the way.
