It was alright. It would've been better if I didn't read it so much later than I read the first book, so the blame isn't fully on this finale.
I just stopped caring about most of the characters since I barely remembered their intricacies & personalities from past books, except for El & Orion themselves.
This makes it harder considering Orion isn't even in a large portion of the book and I'm sitting through the most boring first quarter of the book without Orion & without the interesting dark magic school (that everyone is reading it for).
Started becoming better around 38% or when El spoke with Orion's parents. Last 50%, even better. But the climax & its 2 major plot twists was what made it worth giving the book a read.
This kind of echoes one of the problems I had with the 2nd book - it takes a whole lot of rambling monologues to reach the good parts of the book. It bogs it down, makes it too slow paced with repetitive thoughts from El, & the whole book suffers from it.
Also, WHY did El and Liesel shag? Why. It comes across as very odd. No one asked for it since it's so random and I see many people found it as unnecessary as I did. No tension, hardly a good reason for it, no likeability, no time for that shit.
There was just NO need for it nor the many filler-like events that happened in the book to make it longer than needed.
