I'm not always a fan of the characters, especially romances, Naomi Novik writes, but her plot is BRILLIANT. This was a satisfying end to the Scholomance series.

And the weird pacing continues! This final volume is deeply, deeply flawed for a number of reasons (again, don't want to get into it, sorryyyyy), but the way the plot comes together is expertly done. This is why we should let authors plan out their series!!

Somewhere bewteen 2.5-3 stars.
I really enjoyed the first two books. Both 4 stars, despite having some petpeeves or flaws here and there. None of it enough to truly ruin my enjoyment of the magic of the school, how it was constructed, the characters and so forth. This just felt like a let down on way too many levels to describe to me. And I'm not talking about the romance, love triangle etc which I never cared for at all. I just felt like half or more than half of the book wasn't for me and didn't have the same "charm" or how to put like the first two. Basically when I do a re-read of these in a couple of years, I'll forget the existence of book 3. Book 2 is my real ending.

Spoiler
As a side note: I genuine felt upset that El's prophecy was false. I had hoped she was "destined" to go bad but she herself chose not to, to put it simply.
