I wanted something engaging and entertaining and this book grabbed me right away. It could have been tighter in the middle but overall was a fun read.

This story is told through two timelines, following two different people who are seemingly unconnected—except for the unexplainable things happening around them and the presence of an eerie toy train set.

I enjoyed it a lot. It was well written, creepy, dark, and, gripping. I loved the tension, the supernatural element, and the unsettling feel in this book. It brought back the old-school Stephen King vibes, and felt like an homage to Needful Things. (SK apparently read the first draft.)

A few things seemed predictable and the ending felt a little easy are my only complaints.

I had such a great time reading Whistle. I wrote lots of notes and did some doodles of some of the scenes and events during the book. I found the way Linwood wrote Whistle really clever with the break down into Parts and following different characters. I enjoyed how everything interlinked as the book went on. Very creepy and eerie. I don’t think I will be going into any Train shops anytime soon as don’t want to risk hearing ChuffchuffChuffchuffChuffchuffChuffchuff.
There were some shocking and tense moments where I was gripped and on the edge of my seat. I’m so glad I read this and highly recommend it.
