I had this as part of a Harlequin bundle that I bought a few years ago, and I read it (re-read it?) recently. It’s pretty forgettable and formulaic, do I’m not surprised that I can’t remember if I’d read it before. I’ve read several of this type of romance. There’s a beautiful innocent who is with a super rich and powerful playboy. They break up because of a dumb misunderstanding and then get back together when she comes asking him for money because her brother/sister/dad ran their family to the ground. He says yes on the condition that they shack up or get married for some dumb reason. They fall in love for real. It’s pretty ridiculous and full of Pretty Woman nonsense like fancy cars, en suites, and jets which she always resists at first because she’s not a gold digger. I’ve read a few that are actually pretty sexy (albeit) ridiculous, but this one left me pretty cold and disbelieving.

I didn't hate this. Actually I liked it.

However I didn't feel their connection very well. It didn't feel like they were in love.

I'm not a huge fan in the "marry me or else" storyline, though this one was a bit different than the standard "he's a douche, she's so innocent" storyline. She's still semi-innocent, but at least there wasn't someone attempting to squeeze in between the two, and the man actually had feelings prior the to "or else".

Formulaic but fun. Rushed ending. No real fun, bitchy OW and romantic strife. Not her best, not her worst.

Loved it. I love how strong men have to force women into a relationship because the man loves the woman.
Would recommend to everyone. It is a book you don't want to put down because you want to see how it ends.

My first real adult novel, yay. But honestly the writing was horrid - "stood to his feet"? Really? And seriously, "evocative" is not a word that should be used to describe kissing. Plus, the relationship is unrealistic; I don't believe in falling in love overnight.
