I feel like I could power through the rest of the season today and tomorrow… what a risky game to play but oh so satisfying.
This was one of the most stressful experiences of my LIFE...how does Cole McCade do it honestly I’m amazed.
I wasn't as connected to the crime in this novel as I have been in others, but I was still intrigued. I feel like having this grand of an investigation on top of everything else going on wasn't the best idea--at one point I was getting myself excited because I thought I was starting to figure it out before I remembered this book is literally called Cult of Personality. That's how distracted I was. I don't know if it's just me, but. Oof.
As always, Seong-Jae and Malcolm don't disappoint. I love their relationship so much and reading about them being so OPEN about the feelings for each other...my poor heart can't handle it. Especially with Seong-Jae being more vulnerable with Malcolm and feeling so safe with him and just generally being the love of my life...love that.
P.S.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ENDING I'M SO STRESSED OH MY GODDD LOGICALLY I KNOW NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO THEM BUT OHMYGOD WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THEM....GABRIELLE RUN
Just as good as the last couple but the storyline was about religious cult stuff which I hate.
Gah, the excitement I have that I don't have to use the "slow burn" tag for this series anymore is... everything.
I really love that SJ and Malcolm are finally moving forward in their relationship. In this installment, they spend time talking about labels and have a more heart to hearts. They definitely have confess that they have feelings for each other so there's no more hiding. It doesn't mean that there aren't still secrets though. SJ really needs to fess up to Malcolm (and us!) about the whole Sila thing. He can't keep that a secret anymore, and I think it's going to come out soon regardless.
The case in this story was disturbing, but like the last few books, I didn't really feel like the case was at the forefront of the book. Yes, our guys went out and worked this case together. But it kind of felt rushed and just not that put together. I'm really here for the relationship development between SJ and Malcolm from now so I don't care all that much.

Another solid installment! Not my favorite case, but also not my least favorite. But I enjoyed seeing Malcolm and Seong-Jae navigating starting a relationship and what it meant and all of that. I'm definitely still frustrated about Seong-Jae not telling Malcolm about But despite that frustration, I love Seong-Jae and Malcolm a lot, and this series continues to be very enjoyable (to the point where I feel like these reviews are becoming incredibly repetitive, but oh well!).
Spoiler
Sila, when he KNOWS Sila's back and that Malcolm could be in danger because of their relationship. THERE'S JUST NO REASON NOT FOR HIM TO TELL MALCOLM!!! At least that we know about. Especially considering he knows Sila's been in Baltimore for at least a year and messed with Sarah — it should not be out of the realm of possibility to think he could approach Malcolm! This is maybe a case where it would've been better if the audience was kept more in the dark about Sila and Malcolm's one night stand from the first book and all of that because it just feels like the characters are 10 steps behind me as a reader.

Currently (still) swooning over Mal and Seong-Jae being lovey-dovey and looking out for each otherrr
