This is like the Handmaid’s Tale of motherhood. Absolutely gutting and infuriating. It was so well written - I couldn’t put it down. However, I have to mimic another review in that it’s too tragic for 5 stars (that may not be fair but I don’t even know if I can say I liked it). I would not recommend to anyone (especially a parent) feeling fragile at the moment.

What does a very bad day cost you? The concept of the school in this book makes me want to scream- cry- throw up. Brutally written. Very good, but can't recommend it. Commentary on sexism and double standards in parenting. The fact that perfect is never good enough. The whole book made me mad and sad. I cried at the end. What would you do to be with your child?

This book is rough, but so well written, and it does a great job of discussing the impossible expectations our society has of mothers. Can’t wait to discuss it with my book club.
