One thing I'll say is I really had to push through the beginning and almost gave up on this book.
The beginning made the relationship between Steph and Izzie seem really superficial and reminded me a lot of short-lived teenage love. But as the cracks in their relationship started showing up, I realized that this "too good to be true" portrayal in the beginning was totally intentional, because it was the blind type of love that Steph felt in the beginning. Only over the course of the book did she develop a more realistic view. From that point on I also enjoyed reading about the characters.
I didn't completely vibe with the writing style, but overall I believe that a novel isn't the best format for a LIS story anyway. The comics capture the feeling of the game better in my opinion. The author also had a habit of repetitively forming sentences that described an external event (e.g. Steph was cuddling with Izzie) and then continued with an internal feeling (but Steph still felt cold inside). That happened so often that at some point I just wanted them to break up so I wouldn't have to read those obvious clues about it anymore.
I loved the Haven Springs section at the end, and just like Steph, I felt all the tension from previous plot events fall off my shoulders and was happy that she finally found her place.
Overall it was a good book and I was glad that I read it, just the writing style wasn't for me.

Firstly, I have no idea if this books works for somebody who knows nothing about Life is Strange and hasn't played the games. But I am a big fan of the games and Steph is one of my favourite characters. So of course this is for me.
This bridges Steph's time after Arcadia Bay (we saw her first in Before the Storm as a side character) and tells the story of her life in Seattle and how she eventually ends up in Haven Springs. There she is a main character for Life is Strange: True Colors. Fans of the game roughly know what happened in that time, but it is nice to have it told this way. And when we do get to Haven Springs it felt very nostalgic for me, since I know that little town and its people quite well.
I chose the audio book, since Katy Bentz reads it. She voiced Steph in the games, so this is the perfect fit.

i enjoyed getting a look at what was going on in steph's life between lis and true colors, but the book forcing the save the bae choice took me out of the story every time it came up. no fault of the story telling, that just is not a choice i ever made in any of my playthroughs lmao so i was struggling.
