Deserves a real close read which considers the privilege and responsibility of looking; an ideal spectator, this was how people were able to look at themselves introspectively under lack of psychoanalytic terminology or practice. How else would one fashion an image of themselves and who they might want to be?

I had to read this one for lit class, but I would not read it again.

This was a manageable read on which to study James' early writing style.

Girls don't flirt or you'll die!

Not badly written, but I'll rather read a book about a "modern woman" written by a woman to ensure she doesn't get shamed by a man who thinks she's hot and flirts with her, while he has a side bitch.

But of course she is the bad guy.

Oh this Daisy Miller was an highly exasperating American woman. Imagine even back in the 1800s American tourists were also rude, immodest ignored all societial conventions set forth in each country that they visited. Basically Americans acting badly. It’s really not to hard to contemplate it being true. Henry James you are a beautiful writer.
emotional lighthearted relaxing fast-paced

A great introduction to Henry James; short, concise, and a narrative that pulls in many recurring themes of his work (the American abroad, American vs. European heritage, etc.)
