as much as i enjoyed the whole 400 page journey of figuring out the mystery, i wished it has just been a little longer so there could have been more closure at the end and a more fleshed-out reveal. it felt a little rushed and unsatisfying given the length of the setup. but overall this was such an enjoyable mindfuck mystery (4.5)

3.5 rounded up to 4. I am a sucker for same-day time loop stories, so I definitely enjoyed this plus the English manor, gothic-ish, Agatha Christie vibes. Its rating is hampered by the ending giving me more questions than answers and the fact that I had very little idea what was going on for the first 300 pages. I do recommend for my fellow AC lovers!

excellent book!! a guy wakes up with no memory in the forest of the Hardcastle home. he finds out that lord and lady hardcastle are throwing a party on the 19th anniversary of their son’s murder. guy meets evelyn, the hardcastle daughter and pretty much falls in love.

the next day, guy wakes up re-living the same day in someone else’s body. he finds out that tonight, evelyn dies, and he has to figure out who kills her or he’s doomed to relive this day forever.

guy gets 8 different “hosts” to figure out the murder and keeps his memory from each host, but after midnight in his last host his memory is wiped and he starts all over again. very interesting concept. really cool story. absolutely loved it, would strongly recommend!!

This book was about 100 pages too long, with an unsatisfying ending that didn’t merit the long, convoluted read.

✨ The Title/Cover Draw:
I had purchased this book a few years ago but never picked it up. But I needed a book with geometric shapes on the cover for a prompt so I decided to try it.

Aiden must find out who is going to kill Evelyn Hardcastle using 8 host bodies and the only way to escape is to figure out who did it! I found the concept of this book wildly interesting. A Groundhog Day situation meets Clue. I, however, found myself zoning out a lot. It felt way too long and eventually, I was just listening to it so I could be done with it. Maybe it was because I listened to it on audiobook instead of reading it physically. I think this concept would have been more interesting in modern times or on the silver screen.

Love the message (people are capable of change), the ending ties everything perfectly together, love the suspense, but at times it was a bit hard to keep track of everything, which made it less fun to read
