This was a very sweet read! The first part of the book is written mostly in email exchanges between the two MCs, and I loved it! Kristina did an impressive job at conveying not only important information but also the characters' personalities in this exchange.
I loved both Lily and Nick. They each had developed characters with their own issues and shining qualities. They complemented each other well.
What I enjoyed most was the way Nick and Lily were together. Their relationship has struggles, and they both made mistakes, and I appreciated the way they handled it all. It felt very adult and functional and gave me so much hope for the success of their hea!

This was a super sweet contemporary romance that had me rooting for the MCs despite the main plot being essentially focused around a lie of omission, which isn't something I'd normally be down for. But I really loved both Lily and Nick, and their respective personalities and backgrounds felt fresh for a romance novel. Something about the two of them broke out of the mold for me, particularly as I've been reading a lot of romance lately and was pleased that this managed to stick out. I would have breezed through this much quicker had I not had a busy weekend, but as it was this still was incredibly immersive and flowed really well. I enjoyed seeing the mutual respect and connection Lily and Nick had for each other, and while I don't condone some of Nick's actions regarding telling Lily the truth about their past communication, I did understand why his history and trauma stemming from his childhood made him act against his better interests. I also appreciated the framing of Lily trying to assert herself and her career and life choices within her incredibly loving if a little overbearing family, which was super relatable. In all, these are well rounded characters and I'm really looking forward to continuing the series.

This is one of those bookish romances for book people following an author and a woman who’s career in publishing was inspired by reading his book years ago that never got popular. It has an epistolary element as well, and a little bit of hidden identity when our MMC finds out that his neighbor in his apartment in New York has several similarities to his old pen pal. This was a solid romance.
