I wanted this to be so much more :( I loved the concept, enjoyed the characters, and appreciated the concept. Alas, the plot felt very rushed and there was a lot of “telling not showing” dialogue that took me out of the moment. The big reveal with the priest didn’t feel like there was enough buildup to make it hit home.

this was my first book by this author and sadly it wasn't for me.
i didn't connect with the characters. they all felt one dimensional.
the dialogue between fernanda and the goddess also could've been done a lot better. i loved the concept of it, but the execution was a bit meh.
the writing style also wasn't my favourite. something about it was slow paced for me and not at all engaging.
the plot didn't really make sense for me by the end. i don't wanna spoil, let's just say it was all over the place.
i did like some topics mentioned in this book like racism, mexican culture and feminism being a few, but for the most part the book was so boring. it really didn't do anything for me. i'm glad i gave this a shot though!

Went into this one with high hopes and honestly… it didn’t hit like I wanted it to. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the feminine rage, the power, I loved all that. It had something I’d usually be obsessed with. But something just felt off or unfinished. Like it didn’t go as hard as it could’ve. I think a lot of people would enjoy this. It’s different. It just wasn’t fully for me.
