This was amazing. The Craft meets Jennifer’s Body meets some kind of amazing Mexican bruja nonsense.

I loved this so much. I loved the girls, I LOVED the goddess.

Imagine doing black magic and then getting the gift of some sexy, feminist, magic goddess to accompany you for life. If this isn’t a sign for Robyn to let me do black magic I don’t know what is.

BRB I’m grabbing my Ouija board.

I really wanted to like this more than I did. There are some really cool ideas here and the premise really checks all of my boxes, but the pacing is super wonky, the characters are so underdeveloped that it’s hard to remember most of their names, and it suffers from one of the worst cases of ‘author needing to learn how to show not tell’ that I’ve ever come across. I can usually get behind horror with heavy handed messaging, but I’ve just never read a horror/thriller book devoid of a single moment that felt suspenseful or tense or scary.  Stars for good plot but bad execution.
