I went in expecting a silly little book, and that is not what this is. It ended up being quite an intense look at the particular pressures and vulnerabilities of women and girls in Nigeria. The commentary was definitely necessary, and maybe it was hidden behind that silly title and the cover for a reason? Maybe it's a tactic? I'm not sure. But this book actually took on some serious topics, though there were, maybe, two too many POVs. I could have done without the doctor and the aunties' stories. And the ending was a bit sudden. I had to go back and make sure I didn't miss something when it ended so abruptly.

Also, I thought the audiobook actor was phenomenal. I want to listen to more audiobooks narrated by her. She was very, very good. It makes such a huge difference when someone who is from the book's culture does the narration. I wish that was more common for audiobooks, because it really, really enhances the experience.
