I read this book on the recommendation of my 15-year-old son. He is becoming quite a fan of non-fiction and really liked this book. I liked it too. It brought back a lot of memories of me of that September day that almost all Americans remember. The details of what happened aboard United Airlines Flight 93 that day, and the heroic actions of the passengers and crew were incredible to read about. The impact of that day on the lives of the family members gave me a lot of pause for thought and reflection about my own family members, who I sometimes take for granted far too much. This was an emotionally charged book that brought my own emotions to the surface and I cried in several places while I read. Ultimately, however, this is a book about faith and hope and courage. That's why my son Josh liked it and that's why I liked it too. Highly recommended!

When the news first said Flight 93 had gone off course, I knew they were fighting against the Terrorists. This is such a great example of the human (American) spirit.

The Beamers were a strong, religious people before this happened. They have shown courage, faith and an eternal perspective with their lot in life. We should all show this strength in our own adversity.

I’ve been meaning to read this book since it was published in 2003 but never got around to it. The 20th anniversary of 9/11 reminded me. Lisa Beamer, widow of one of the many 9/11 heroes, writes so eloquently of the pain and joy of raising 3 little children by herself. She was pregnant with their 3rd child when Todd was killed. She was no stranger to trials as her father had also died when she was young. Her faith is evident and encouraging. So glad I finally read this.

It's a touching book that tells you about Lisa Beamer's marriage to Todd Beamer. As you approach the ending, you get sadder because we all knows how 9/11 turned out.

An extraordinary story about the life of Todd Beamer. A testament to how a million tiny decisions impact a life. The events of September 11th have marked us all, and while a tragedy for the Beamer family, they are also comforted to know Todd was truly Todd until the very last moments of his life. This is a great book about faith, family, friendship, and the pursuit to do what is right.

As much as I wanted to enjoy this, the way the author chose to write it made it pretty painful. The mention of God in every other sentence made this terribly annoying and I'll be honest, I skipped most of this book and read the important parts which were few and far between. Pretty much the beginning and the end are the only essential parts to this story and there is a lot of filler.

Unless constant reminders of religious devotion and reading about the repetitive woes of a woman who lost her husband don't bother you, this book is best avoided. Pick a documentary about the 9/11 attacks instead.

After asking a FB group in recommending books around 9/11 I decided to give this a try.

Here we have Lisa, the wife of Todd Beamer, who tried to the stop hijackers on United Flight 93 on that awful morning of 9/11.

Lisa recalls at the start of the person Todd was and how they met and their lives up to 9/11 but then also how she coped with her life after the event.

She recalls the numerous meetings with the media, meeting the President and other families but also how her faith in God has made her cope with the event and life after it.
