I have the illustrated version and it's the cutest. I <3 you Sophie. This book made me fall in love with reading. I almost didn't take it home from the library that day back in the fifth grade. I know I would've regretted it for the rest of my life. This series has filled so many parts of me. I genuinely can't picture my life without it. It inspired me to create my own stories, something that brings me so much joy, and for that I'm eternally grateful.

This story was encapsulating from the start. The characters the plot and the emotional drama. It’s for twelve years but it could almost pass as ya for the complexities. I have a feeling this series will only be getting better.

This has a lighter, female version of a Harry Potter story feel. It takes a bit to keep the characters and elf terminology straight, but Sophie the elf finding out she's not human and has elf powers, is very similar to Harry's coming of age to what he really is. Willing to try book 2.
