So this book left me with a lot of mixed feelings. I'm somewhere between a 2-3 rating really. It started out promising, I was intrigued by the premise and set up. But soon the story just grew flat for me and I just never really connected with the characters or story. The writing was not my style at all is another thing I had trouble with. It felt tedious at times to get through so much prose just to finally get to something interesting. Overall, I loved the premise and that kept me reading. It was unique in ways... but the writing and story just were not for me at all.
I'd say this is a cross between The Hunger Games+ Gemina+ The Lunar Chronicals... but lacked the writing style and connectable characters of those series.

Wo what a fantastic book! It's been a long time since I've read a sci-fi, and this was the perfect book to get me back into the genre.
THINGS I LIKED:
-Nemesis was such a stabby, tortured little anti-hero protagonist. I loved her.
- The plot was fantastic.
-The world was very detailed and cool. I'd like to know more about it, though, and how exactly things progressed into what we see in the novel.
- THE ENDING OMG I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN.
THINGS I DISLIKED:
-It reminded me a bit of Red Queen and The Hunger Games. I'm not sure if this is a negative thing.
- It was rather slow to start. It took me awhile to actually want to read, and not feel like I was slogging through it. Once I got to the part where Nemesis went to the Crysthanenum, I became involved in the story.

Though I am just starting to dip my toes into sci-fi, this book was a surprising and wonderful breath of fresh air. I inhaled it and loved every minute💜
I loved this book! I loved Nemesis' battle for humanity and Tyrus moral ambiguity. The characters were very well-rounded and all the back-stabbing of the Domitrians kept me on my toes! This is probably one of my favorite reads of the year also with The Dark Days Pact by Alison Goodman, Hunted by Meagan Spooner, and Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones
If you're looking for a science fiction book with interesting characters, a pretty fast paced plot, and great world-building, look no further!
