Another good story about true events from personal accounts. Always learning more about this time in history.

I was excited to read this book as I love historical fiction and find that reading about Auschwitz is usually quite fascinating and keeps my attention. This particular book did fall short though. I struggled to get through the book and found myself losing interest at times.

So this is my second story that Ellie Midwood has written and there is some mention of Alma Rose in this book that was the main protagonist in The Violinist Of Auschwitz.

This story is definitely not going to leave my head anytime soon as Its a very powerful and extremely well written and that nothing is left out as the author has done an immense amount of research.

This book was very hard to read as a whole but it will stay with me for a very long time.

Ellie Midwood thank you for your research and for writing this amazing story of both Mala and Edek who deserved to have their stories told in a way that did them justice.

Overall a heart wrenching, absolutely beautifully devastating story of two lesser known heroes of Auschwitz.

Heartbreakingly heroic love

The true story of love, strength and resistance of Mala and Edelman. The importance of knowing their story can not be underestimated. We must honour them & watch out for fascism and fight it with every ounce of courage that we have.

When I picked up a free copy of this title, I didn't realize it was based on a true story. Biographical fiction is a genre that I struggle with constantly because it limits my ability to suspend disbelief; the heart wrenching images of war and concentration camp life too difficult to ignore. I went in thinking there was a happy ending in sight, even though the chance is small when it relates to WWII Holocaust experiences, and walked away with a new perspective of what these endings may entail. This book is not for the faint of heart! If violence, abuse, and suicide trigger you, stay away from this title. I'm not kidding - it's a tale set in the middle of one of the most ruthless and despair filled settings of war. Proceed with caution.
