A child locked in a hot car is a popular topic right now and especially until you have been a parent - don't judge. All parents make mistakes every day that can put their child/children in danger. That doesn't mean they would intentionally hurt their child or that they are a bad parent. I thought Prieto was a big fat jerk and went way over the top. Of course, every story needs a villain. The ending was a little too "perfect." But it felt good.
Another quick and heartbreaking/heartwarming story by Heather! Social worker and mother of 3, Ellen, makes the worst kind of accident - leaving her one year old daughter in the car on a hot day. Meanwhile, Ellen's mother stumbles upon a 10 year old girl, Jenny, who happens to be lost and homeless.
Jenny, Ellen and Ellen's mother all save themselves and save others throughout this story. Loved this!

A mother's worst nightmare, a social worker who has seen the absolute worst of abuses, and a lost child are the focus of this novel by Heather Gudenkauf. This book overflows with tension and heightened emotions; it is anxiety-inducing. I really connected with and felt for the characters. It was a pretty quick read and well worth reading, though the subject matter might be difficult for some.
