Loved this book! 🤩 what a fun start to a series - I was laughing out loud several times and loved the storyline of this book.
Avery can’t stand Emmett Rhodes. She thinks he’s a playboy, fake, and unfortunately very attractive. However, she has to put her pride aside when she needs help getting a loan to buy the restaurant she works at.
But Emmett also needs help when he decides to run for Mayor. Avery isn’t the only one who thinks he’s a playboy, and having it appear that Emmett is in a committed relationship will help him get ahead. So what do the two do? Get in a fake relationshiiiiipppp 🤩
This book was a blast, and the audio was wonderful. I also loved that there was no third act breakup 👏 can’t wait to dive into the next book!

“She was so fucking beautiful. She was everything to me and she was all I thought about. This woman. So fucking brave and sweet and smart and perfect for me. Made for me.” —Emmett Rhodes
smirking greening giggling gasping screeching squeaking wheezing throwing up
My, my!! Stephanie Archer has done it again aaaaaaahhhhh. I mean it when she declares her work as a romantic comedy, ughhh yes, Mother. In Stephanie Archer we trust, and I couldn't be more enchanted with her funny and witty writing style.
That Kind of Guy is peak fluffy romcom energy; fake dating, small-town chaos, and banter that actually lands. Avery, a restaurant manager trying to buy out her workplace, and Emmett, a contractor-turned-mayoral-hopeful needing a fake fiancée to clean up his image, strike a deal that’s equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. 😆💞
Their dynamic kicks off with hate-to-love tension (Avery cannot stand him at first), but the chemistry builds fast. Yes, it leans a little insta-lovey, but the charm is undeniable. I adored how their banter never felt forced, it sparkled, it snapped, it delivered. Emmett’s playboy façade slowly crumbles to reveal a swoony, thoughtful softie, and Avery? She’s fierce, driven, and unexpectedly tender once she lets him in. Their rhythm is chaotic perfection. And sure, the near third act breakup nearly had me thrown up the nearest table, but it was all wort it by reaching the conclusion of it.
The story itself is light, a bit fast-paced, and packed with laugh-out-loud moments. Especially the turtle rescue scene abt the mushroom hat, which deserves its own cinematic universe. Also, the scene when Miri is being their number one shipper, like girllll, if I were her, I'll do the exaact same thing either, It doesn’t go deep on angst, but it nails the comfort-spice-swoon trifecta. A warm hug of a book with banter so good, I wanted to bottle it.
At this point, I would also want to acknowledge Alastair Haynesbridge and Sophie Daniels for narrating this book. Their flawless emotion and explosive chemistry made this story come to life. From beginning to end, their duet narrative was captivating. Every moment and every spark between the leads seemed genuine. I became enthralled when they acted the novel rather than merely reading it.
And yes!!! I’m already spiraling over Wyatt and Hannah. That tiny glimpse of their shy, awkward banter is living rent-free in my brain and causing delightful emotional damage. Their dynamic screams messy, addictive, and unhinged in the best way. I’m launching myself into The Wrong Mr. Right like it’s a personal mission bcs I need answers, tension, and all the banter immediately. 💥🏃🏻♀️
