The British Knight is book 4 of The Royals series by Louise Bay. It is a standalone, contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.
Tropes:
✔️ British hero
✔️ Workplace romance
✔️ Opposites attract/grumpy sunshine
✔️ Set in Mayfair London, UK (traveling the world through books)
➦ What I liked:
- Alex Knightly
- The UK law system on top of London backdrop
- The sexy times
➦ What I disliked:
From the start Violet's woe-is-me attitude rubbed me to wrong way when she states that she -- a magna cum laude from MIT -- only has the skills to be a waitress. She was a coward when faced with faced difficult life situations. She was overly dramatic and not objective. Which is ok, but the fact that she's a computer science geek makes her character development incongruent.

Tatlım kimse kusura bakmasın ama eğer hukukî olarak boşanmadıysan , yıllardır ayrı olman beni zerre enterese etmez.
I loved and hated these two MCs. But that made me like the book more because it was so true to the actions of those who have been hurt or socially stunted. The side characters were lovely too. Good read.
I liked this book until I didn't
Who knew that making one mistake was perfect grounds for being left without getting a word in edgewise or even any courtesy of notice?! For the rest of my life, if I were Alex, I'd wonder, "Is she going to leave me because of this?" She has to protect her heart because of one jackass, who admittedly is a massive jackass, so that means one (mistake) and done. He's the one who has to change his whole life, something he was already working on, to chase after her. What man wouldn't love to love an immature, flighty woman?!

4.5 stars!
This is my first book from this author, but it will most definitely not be the last!

A sexy, arrogant, ambitious, BRITISH man, who will onlyyy be open and kind with his lady. Alexander Knightley is THE man that every woman wants, but can’t have. Why? Because he’s emotionally unavailable.
I was reticent to start this book, it's my first time reading/listening to Louise Bay's words, however, I was pleasantly surprised. A free erotic audible book that doesn't suck. Good narrators, fine writing. Also the maturity of the characters and the mild drama, not the usual stupid predictable plot.
3.75 stars
Fun and flirty. Definitely one of the better romances I've read recently. Real adult characters with adult situations handled in a mature manner. Thank you Ms. Bay.
BTW, it's way sexier than I'm suggesting. I'm just boring.

5 Carpe Some Diem CROWNS
Words cannot express how enamored I am with this entire series of standalones from Louise Bay. Every single time I read one I think, "This is my favorite of the series," but then the next one is released and I fall head-over-heels all over again. Each one has a sexy as hell hero, a strong heroine, and the perfect blend of intense physical chemistry and romance, making these stories the perfect mix of romance perfection.
Alexander Knightley is the hero of my dreams. He is intelligent, attractive, driven, and even though he has this gruff and seemingly truculent persona, he is incredibly thoughtful and sweet. When he turns on the charm, readers need to be prepared to swoon because there is no way to resist his charisma. What really makes him the perfect romantic hero is that he also brings the heat in the bedroom, and it isn't in that over-the-top dominant kind of way. He is vocal and tells Violet what he wants, but it is counteracted by the care he shows here. There is no misinterpreting his acts as anything other than care and eventually love. Readers will also become so invested with his character that they will root for him to evolve and to change his ways, to truly begin to live in the moment, and their emotional reaction to the inevitable setback that occurs in the novel hurts them just as much as it hurts the heroine. Louise Bay makes sure, though, the Alexander Knightley is the true knight in shining armor by the end of the story.
Violet is the perfect heroine for me. She is smart, strong, beautiful, vibrant, and yet Louise Bay makes her relatable to readers by making her vulnerable. Her past relationships and her inability to recover and move on, causing her to drift aimlessly through life, makes readers like her as well as root for her to heal and grow as a character. With each day in London, readers get to see her grow and change, the city and her new job revitalizing her. Her confidence grows with each day, and readers get to see her grow and change, becoming a better version of herself. The insecurities don't fully go away (do they really ever?), and Violet goes into protective mode when she feels her heart is in danger of being broken, and although readers will hurt from her choices, they will understand what motivates her to behave in that fashion. At the end of the story, though, readers will respect her choices, and they will love how she truly embraces her carpe diem attitude.
This is the romance I couldn't put down. From the very beginning, readers will be invested in this story because of the characters. The chemistry between Alexander and Violet is electric, which sustains readers at the beginning of the story. Seeing them move from lust to an actual relationship continues to keep readers engaged because with this change comes the development of each character. This story and the relationship is more than about their romance. It shows how love, even in its earliest stages, can change and make people better. The romance running parallel with the evolution of each character is what readers long for in a story as it gives the plot depth. The ending, though, solidifies what makes this the perfect romance with the epic grand gesture and a resolution that is not only perfect but also centered on a realistic conclusion.
Louise Bay has created a series of standalones that is sexy and romantic, captivating readers with every epic romance, and The British Knight is just the next epic love affair in this enticing world. It is an absolute must read!

I would say 3.5 for the sex scenes. But everything else was just meh.
